Easter

Graigry came home to spend the night on Saturday afternoon.  He did some yard work for me and helped to color a few Easter Eggs.

Tyler waiting for his eggs to color.

Easter morning we woke the kids up early to take a drive to see the sunrise. There were just enough clouds that it was a beautiful sunrise. When we got home we started on our traditional Eggs a la Golden Rod breakfast and we gave the kids some gifts for Easter.

Sadly, Melanie came home from ComiCon very sick. She spent most of the night throwing up and the all of Easter Day in bed. I don't think she even looked at her basket until Sunday Afternoon. The dogs were happy to lay by her as she slept off her fevers.

Comic Con

Jessica bought Tyler and Melanie tickets to go with her to Comic Con for their birthdays. They planned their costumes, hair and makeup for weeks.
Jessica's Clingon forhead was made from silocone calk. The com badges were made from clay, painted and then magnets added.
Mixing the paint for her forehead.

It is not easy getting all of Melanie's hair into a French twist.

Melanie made her Borg implants from a lightweight clay, painted them and then stuck them to her face with corn syrup. They stayed on all day.

Warren painted Tyler's face.

Ready for a fun day!

Swim Team Banquet

It is hard to believe that four swim seasons have come and gone. Tyler has gotten taller. We really came to love Coach Myering and his positive attitude towards the kids and the swim program. Tyler got a Scholar Athlete award.

These are the senior boys on the team.

Capitol Reef National Park

Traditional picture by the sign at the entrance to the park.
We stopped to look at the Petraglyphs along the side of the road.

Hickman Bridge

Can't go to Southern Utah and not catch a lizard.

We had planned to have lunch and do a second hike in the afternoon. Unfortunately, there was a fall and our trip ended at the Emergency Room in Richmond. Fortunately, no major damage was done and all will heal. We are glad to be home safe.

Family Vacation - Goblin Valley and Little Wild Horse Canyon

We got up early Friday morning and headed to Goblin Valley State Park.  We stopped to stretch our legs just as the sun was coming up. In this picture from left to right are Melanie, Federica, Warren, Jessica, and Tyler. We pulled out some muffins and fruit for breakfast and got back on the road.

Our first adventure was finding the Goblin's Cave in Goblin Valley.

The landscape looked almost like it was from another planet.

We had lunch at the pavilion overlooking the valley and headed for the slot canyon. This is one of my favorite hikes in Utah. I just love how different the the canyon looks as you walk along the trail.

This sight made my heart happy and I asked Warren to take a picture.
