Happy 16th Birthday Graigry

As is tradition in our family, Graig opened his gifts as soon as he woke up (6am) on his birthday.  He got three new shirts from Old Navy.  He will also get a desk for his bedroom which he no longer has to share (Jessica's birthday gift).  Tyler moved into the room vacated by Jessica.
Balloons from the "Birthday Fairy" are another tradition.
Watching Graig open his gifts.  It was Jessica's last time at family scripture study for a while.
On Graig's birthday I picked him up from school and took him to the DMV to get his driver's license.  Watch out world, here he comes.
Graig's birthday was very busy.  Luckily I had help - Tyler made dinner (Crockpot lasagna) and our sweet home teacher brought Graig some zucchini bread in a pie plate which we used as his birthday cake.
The real celebrating happened at the Friday night extravaganza.  Graig got the party started by showing off how he could conquer the swing set.  He climbed on top using only his arms and stood on top.  The weather was off and on raining but it didn't get in the way of the fun.  We put a canopy over the fire pit to keep the fire from going out and played games inside when it got too wet.  The kids did manage to get in one game of steal the flag.
Graig's friend Rosie from orchestra was the only girl who could come.  She didn't know any of the boys at the party besides Graig and I wondered if she would call her mom to come get her early.  She proved to be very good at entertaining the 11 boys at the party and stayed until the very end.
Rosie and Tyler...
Happy Birthday to you...
Rosie taught the boys some new games like "Swedish twister" pictured below.  The game starts with everyone standing in a circle.  The first person takes one of their feet and touches one foot of the person on their right without moving their other foot.  The person to the right then does the same thing to the person on their right with the foot touched by the person on their left. You are out of the game if you say "uh-oh", "oops", or "awkward", or if you fall down.
This was another of Rosie's games.  This one was played with your hands.  Everyone sits in a circle with their hands in front of them.  The hands are then arranged so that the person on your right has their left hand in between your hands and the person on your left has their right hand in between your hands.  The person who starts taps their right hand one time and the person on their left must tap their left hand one time and it continues around the circle clockwise with each hand tapping one time.  If someone misses a tap that hand is out of the game.  To make it more advanced two taps means the direction of play reverses and three taps skips the next hand.
