Dresses

When you find your self in a dress shop, you should try on the fanciest dress you can find.

Victor and MJ Wedding

It was a great day Saturday hanging out with the Henries to celebrate MJ's wedding to Victor.
We were a little late to the wedding lunch which gave us the chance to mingle with the Keller family. Marie and Melanie sat at what I referred to as the "Deacon" table and they kept them very entertained.

It was really great to see Tyler. Brenda brought him down from Logan for the day.

This photo booth was good for some laughs at the reception.

It was fun to see this beautiful lady, Chelsea. She was at the wedding with her dad who was in town from Texas.

Temple Square

This cute girl has a secret...
It may or may not be related to why Melanie tried on this beautiful wedding dress that belongs to Clayton's sister.

Jessica, Clayton, Melanie and Marie met me in SLC after I finished work at the doTERRA convention for the day so that we could attend the Lyceum Concert in the tabernacle. I have been so excited for this concert and it didn't disappoint. All of the musical numbers testified of Christ and there was a great spirit in the room. I especially loved the children's choir. I only wish the concert could have been longer, it was that good.
We took a short walk around temple square after the concert. The temple is so beautiful all lit up at night. I am so grateful for temples.

Weekend fun

Melanie and Marie had some friends over for a fire in the backyard.  Melanie found some sparklers in the cupboard and they had fun with those.
Saturday evening Marie, Melanie, and I attended a bridal shower for Emily Henrie. It was fun to visit with the Henrie side of the family. Emily's grandma did a great job with the shower. There were some fun games and delicious food.

Labor Day

I read online that Camp Floyd was having a living history day and so we decided to introduce Marie into what life was like for the early pioneers in Utah

We started with a Stage Coach ride.

There was a tent where the girls made biscuits from flour and sprite. The biscuits were then cooked in a wood burning stove. The first batch burned but the second batch worked great and the girls had a treat.

The girls got drafted into the army and were taught how to shoot a gun from that time period. The other soldiers were very friendly.

We took time to play a hoop tossing game that the pioneers played.

We ended the day by watching a baseball game. After going into overtime, the Orem Owlz were victorious and we were rewarded for staying until the very end with a fireworks show.

These girls are fun to hang out with.

Soldier Hollow Sheep Dog Championship and Swiss Days Festival

Attending the Sheep Dog Championship at Solder Hollow has been on my bucket list for years. I figured my family would enoy it as well because they love dogs to much. We decided to "staycation" this weekend and I got some free tickets to attend. It was fun watching the competition. The sheep dogs and their handlers were very impressive. The dogs had to find the sheep up on the mountain and then herd them through several challenges, the hardest of which was getting them into a small pen. There was a time limit for completing the skills.

Even more fun were watching the other dog shows. Melanie, Marie, and Jessica loved that they were showing off a team of Iditarod Husky dogs. There were some puppies to hold and pet. Every so often the would hook the dogs up to an ATV and have the dogs practice pulling it up the hill and back. Melanie and Marie were thrilled to be asked to ride along. The dogs would be so excited to head out they would be barking and jumping around.

They was a "Splash Dogs" area where all different breads of dogs came to try jumping off a platform. The contest was to see how far out they could jump. The trainers had different techniques but all of the dogs were chasing some type of toy.

There was an agility course set up and several championship dogs as well as newcomers to the sport showed off their skills. It was fun to hear the trainer talk about what is involved in training those dogs.

There was a show where a trainer did tricks with his dogs and frisbees and there was a veterinarian giving tips about how to train a dog to do different skills and tricks.  Of course, there were lots of dogs to pet. We will definitely be attending this festival again.

When we had seen everything at Soldier Hollow we decided to check out Swiss Days in Midway. It was so crowded! It was fun to look at booth after booth of fun things for sale but in the end all we did was window shop. When we tried to drive home via Provo Canyon, traffic was at a standstill for what looked like miles. We decided to go home via America Fork Canyon which meant part of the way home was on a dirt road. We stopped at Cascade Springs but the girls were too worn out to get out of the car. It was a pretty drive through the canyon.

What a great day!
