Easter Sunday

Easter is a week long celebration at our house beginning with Palm Sunday.  We had a great family home evening on Palm Sunday given by Agnese.  We learned how they celebrate Palm Sunday in Italy.  We got to have the Caprio family over for a waffle dinner.
This week was a little crazy for our family... I was getting the family ready for our spring break vacation, Tyler was finishing his life guarding class, and Warren was going through a state audit at work.  We still got to participate in some of our beloved Easter week traditions like a Passover meal on Thursday and a temple trip on Saturday.   While we were at the temple with Jessica and Graigry on Saturday, Tyler and Melanie introduced Agnese to the American tradition of coloring Easter eggs.  They colored two dozen boiled eggs that we turned into Egg a-la-golden rod Sunday morning and egg salad for our trip to Southern Utah.

It was great to read scriptures from the bible about the events leading up to and ending with Christ's Resurrection on Easter morning.

We began our Easter day celebration by watching the Mormon Tabernacle Choir broadcast live on temple square.  The music was beautiful.  After, we drove to see the Cathedral of the Madeline and peek inside at their packed Easter service.  Agnese didn't know there are that many Catholics in Utah.

We ended our Easter day with a family dinner at my parents house with Connie's family.

I love to see the Temple, I went inside today

It was very cool for Warren and I to help Jessica and Graigry go through the temple for the first time in preparation for their upcoming missions.  I thought it would be fun if they did it on March 30th which this year was the Saturday before Easter Sunday.  For a few years we have had the tradition to take our children to the temple to do baptisms for the dead as part of our Easter week celebration because on this Easter week day Christ was in the spirit world setting up the missionary program.

Happy Spring

In order to more fully concentrate on the Atonement and Resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter, we do our egg hunts and gift giving the Saturday before Palm Sunday and Celebrate the beginning of Spring.  I wanted an activity that would be challenging for our teenagers but still fall into the category of an egg hunt.  I decided to purchase a 300 piece puzzle at the dollar store and wanted Warren to help me put it together.  Well that puzzle was HARD and we ended up having to ask the kids to help us put it together.  Once it was together Warren drew on the front of the puzzle, "Happy Easter 2013" with the three kid's names and where their gift baskets could be found.  We then put 10 puzzle pieces in each of 30 plastic eggs.  In order to make putting the puzzle back together easier, the pieces inside each egg went together.
