"The Ascent" Journalism Staff t-shirts

Jessica is the editor of the UCAS paper.  She decided they needed matching shirts for their picture in the yearbook.  (The shirt in the middle is showing the back.)
Her friends, Kiera and Whitney, came over to help bleach the black t-shirts she bought.  (Their school mascot is the falcon.)  Kiera came up with the design.  The t-shirts were a big hit with the journalism staff.

"Temples and Tombs"

What you can do with a white t-shirt, and some white  and gold fabric...

Tyler's school class just finished their social studies unit on Egypt.  Their final project was to dress up and perform the program "Temples and Tombs" for their parents and the rest of the school.

Tyler worked on this tri-board with the rest of his group.

Thanks, Warren, for designing and building Tyler's costume.  He looked great!

Tyler's class made and painted death masks.  They also got to mummify a fish.

So creative

Melanie took an old egg carton and turned it into a tea set.  She then hosted a tea party for all her favorite stuffed pals.  She is good at entertaining herself.

When Tyler and Melanie are bored on a Sunday afternoon one of their favorite ways to pass the time is to play "beauty parlor".  Melanie was really mad I wouldn't let her go to school this way on Monday morning.

Science, Science, you're so cool...

This is Tyler's science experiment. The water is heating up the air in the vase, and blowing the ballon up. Isn't it cool? (I was gone to a scholarship meeting at the time)

Winter in NOVEMBER?!

Brr! It decided to snow!

It decided to snow lightly today. (If light rain is called sprinkling, then what is a light snow called?) Tyler really hates it. The other kids like it though. How can it snow when Thanksgiving hasn't even passed? It's CRAZY! We were raking leaves when it started to hail and snow like mad. We ran inside and now we have about a 1/2 inch.

Just a cough or the Swine Flu?

Tyler in his mask

Tyler has been coughing for the last week and a half, so I decided to take him to the doctor. He said, Tyler had a Sinus-infection and Asthema. He just wears the mask, so he doesn't have to cover up his coughing.
He absolutely hates his medicine. Some of it is yellow colored, that one's a little bit more good tasting, and some of it's pink. He absolutely HATES the pink medicine!

A Basement Full of New Carpet

Warren's parents had asked him to keep his eyes out for some inexpensive carpet for their basement family room. Through a unique set of circumstances, he was able to get enough new carpet for the entire basement. He spent Sunday and Monday helping to get it installed. Warren and his dad were the "prep" crew which means they moved the furniture

around, pulled out the old carpet, cleaned up the cement, nailed down all

the tack strip, and glued down the carpet pad.

Work in progress....

They laid the old carpet outside on the lawn to work as a staging and cutting area for the new carpet. On their way out of town, Warren and Hector took all the old carpet to the dump.

Warren's friend, Hector, was kind enough to drive out to Neola in his big commercial van. Hector is a professional carpet installer. He kindly offered to do all the carpet

installation at Mom and Dad's house for free even though he hasn't had much work lately.

(He didn't go away empty handed.)

It was a successful trip.

Oh, the best part (for me) is that when he got home he finished cleaning out the garage

and I can now park my van inside. Thanks Honey!

Next project:

Warren hopes to be able to tile the basement entryway if we can make it out for Thanksgiving which will be determined by if we think our van will make the drive or not. Our van is once again back from the shop and driving fine around town. It is big hills that seem to do it in each time and there are a lot of big hill between here and Neola. Keep your fingers crossed for us.
