If I Could I Would Live Under the Sea

Each year our ward builds a float for the Children's Parade in Lehi. The float this year was darling and won the "Miss Lehi" award. Tyler got to wear the Nemo costume both days and walked behind the float. Melanie ran the bubble machine the first day and got to be the mermaid the second day. You would have thought they named her "Miss Lehi". She woke up early so she could have her hair done in curls.

We love Hutchings Museum

After doing his Eagle Scout project for The Hutching's Museum, Graig decided to continue volunteering for them as a museum docent. They keep him busy from 11am to 5pm each weekday helping out with various projects around the musuem. He got to be part of a puppet show and helped give life to the dinasaur on the museum's float in the parade.

National Recognition for Graig's Orchestra

The American Heritage Lyceum Philharmonic Orchestra Graigry plays with just received word that they have been invited to play at the 2010 String Teachers Association National Conference in Santa Clara, California in February. There were only three orchestras selected to be featured performers out of applicants from the Middle School, High School and College level. Graig just wanted to know how close Santa Clara is to Disney Land

Playful Kittens

Our 5 kittens, now almost 6 weeks old, have been wandering the entire house underfoot and playing with everything and everyone they come in contact with. They're really fun and cute!

Eagle Scout Project

Graig had the scouts help him make fossil pecking kits for the Hutching's museum of Natural History. Each kit is a small paper cup fill about half full of mortar mix and three or four fossils. After a group tours the fossil room at the museum the guide hands each child a pecking kit to chip away at and find the fossils inside. His goal was to make 200 kits and they ended up making over 400. It was a successful night. Thanks to all of you who helped.

Girls' Camp Certification Hike to Scout Falls

On Wednesday, a bunch of us (young women and leaders) went up American Fork Canyon to hike Scout Falls. It was really pretty up there. It was only about 2 1/2 miles to the falls (we could have gone farther if we wanted to). There were lots of places where you had to cross beautiful mountain streams and springs on the way up the mountain. There were also some spots where you had to make your way across snow. There were lots of waterfalls- at one point during the hike, you could see at least four all bunched together. Scout Falls were HUGE, very high up, and very cool.

Melanie's Dream Boy

I found this in Melanie's backpack.

"My dream boy is perfect for me. And he has blond hair. He has a big smile. He has beautiful blue eyes. He has a big smile. He is muscular. He likes bugs. He likes helping people. His laugh is really cool."

Pink Elephant

Melanie loves to create costumes out of what ever materials she can find. Today she came downstairs as a pink elephant.

Family Fun at Discovery Park

For a "Family Home Activity" Monday night, we drove to Discovery Park in Pleasant Grove. The playground is pretty big, and all the parts connect so it was really fun to play tag without touching the ground. Melanie made about 5 new friends within an hour and we had a good game going before long.

Best of State

The American Heritage Lyceum Philharmonic Orchestra, of which Graig is a member, won a "Best of State" award in the category, "Best Instrumental Youth Performing Group". They got to play two numbers as part of the "Best of State" awards ceremony. It was a very "star-studded" show. The orchestra performed with George Dyer. Thurl Bailey and Alex Boye were also on the program. The award presenters were local celebrities as well. Graig said it was fun.

Surprise!! Happy 40th Birthday Mary!

Warren told me he was making plans for after Melanie's birthday party but he would only tell me that someone would pick me up at 5:30. Connie came and got me and told me she was going to take me shopping for a new outfit. We went to Kohl's and bought me three new outfits and then on to Shades and bought new swimsuits. It was getting pretty late and so I figured we were just going to meet Warren for dinner. When I walked in the door the first thing I noticed was that the house was really decorated. I heard "surprise" and it took me a few minutes to process what was happening. The house was full of people. Everywhere I looked there were more of my favorite people. Apparently Connie was in charge of getting me out of the house. Tina was in charge of decorating and Warren was in charge of invitations. I hadn't opened so many presents since my wedding reception. Everyone was so kind. My good friend Patrice gave me a sweet tribute and Warren read a poem he wrote for the occasion. What a great way to turn 40! Then on my REAL birthday I got to sleep in and relax all day.

Happy Birthday Melanie! 9 years Old! May 22

Melanie woke up this morning to balloons and presents. She got a CD player and art supplies.

After school she had her friends over for a party in the backyard. The weather was beautiful. One favorite game was the "Skittle" Game. She got more fun gifts from her friends.
