The Honey is ALIVE!

Tonight we did a family home evening on the "Bee"-attitudes found in Matthew chapter 5. We learned about the peacemaker bee, mourning bee, teacher bee, light bee, merciful bee, love bee, righteous bee, pure in heart bee, persecuted for the right bee, poor in spirit bee, and the meek bees. We are all now buzzing to follow Jesus Christ's teachings from the Sermon on the Mount. Afterward we made honey taffy, which got pretty sticky!
Honey Taffy
Heat one cup of honey to boil stage and cook on medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring often. Test for readiness by dropping a little into a cup of very cold water. If it makes a small ball then it is ready! Pour honey onto a buttered surface and let cool for 3 minutes. Pull taffy with heavily buttered fingers until light and porous. Put onto wax paper and roll it up into candies.
P.S. Pull the taffy longer to make better candy!

Congratulations Grandpa Anderson!

On August 26th, 2008, Mary got to go to Brigham Young University's Opening Session Program for their annual university conference to see her Dad recognized with a President's Appreciation Award by President Cecil Samuelson. This award is given to employees of the university for exceptional service, creativity, and competence. Congratulations Dad! We are proud of you!

Happy 14th Birthday Graigry

Last Saturday (August 23, 2008) was Graig's 14th Birthday party. He had fun playing Laser Tag with his friends. His cousin Devin was kind enough to let Graig borrow his Home Laser Tag sets. He had a fun time! After the Laser Tag game the boys had fun building a big fire in the fire pit in our backyard and making s'mores.
